Ed’s verdict

I really like the SCW9 SD — the rate of fire and trigger are really nice and it's genuinely fun as an SMG PDW, though I still prefer my other version. We had a jam right at the start where something blocked the barrel and the trigger wouldn't pull, but it cleared and seemed fine afterward. The SD suppressor frustrates me because there's no threading or any way to secure a tracer or baffles inside it. With the vertical grip, plug, foregrip, light/laser and prism optic fitted it feels far more comfortable and I'm really liking how chunky it is. At $289 I think it's good value, and I'll cover consistency, hop-up and range in a separate review video.

First thoughts out of the box: I'm very, very impressed — the SCW9SD is super snappy and the trigger has zero take-up, which is amazing on a little PDW like this. For $289.99, I think you're getting a nicely built, realistic little PDW SMG, and the 45-round mags that also fit the MP9 and SPC9 are a really clever bit of design. I don't love the stock — it doesn't drop far enough and could hook on face protection — and the glued orange tip was a real pain to remove. There's also no threading inside the integral suppressor, so fitting my Smokey tracer will take some figuring out. It's exactly what I expected out of the box and performs really, really well; chrono and full review to come.

Problems he hit

BB jam blocked the barrel; trigger would not pull until cleared (cause undetermined, possibly a stray BB or hop-up being off) · 00:47
Charging handles slightly loose (weak spring); plans to fit a stronger spring · 22:04
SD suppressor has no threading or retention for a tracer/baffles; protruding inner barrel would block tracer sensors · 02:58
BB split during speed-loader loading jammed inside magazine and blocked it; had to be worked out · 23:29
Orange tip heavily glued; very difficult to remove, risk of bending thin metal of integral suppressor · 15:21
Charging handle return spring feels weak with noticeable give · 08:14
Stock has some movement, not fully solid, and does not drop low enough for Ed's shoulder · 10:05
Magazine seating is finicky; needs to be rocked in · 24:59

Out of the box

No chrono or formal testing done; Ed only fired briefly to show rate of fire before a BB jam. Consistency, hop-up, BB weight and distance testing deferred to a future review video.
