Ed’s verdict
The Wellpro KS1 is really good from what I've seen, and its own magazine was the most powerful and consistent of the bunch at around 390-410 FPS and 14 rounds a second. The Tokyo Marui and CGS mags do work but had feeding issues, chopped BBs and jams, so I wouldn't buy them for this replica. The Angry Gun and Guns Modify mags ran well, and the Guns Modify are my favourite mags generally, though they're the most expensive at $80. My KS1 has a QC issue where the hammer fails to reset, which I think is just a spring that needs reseating. It's cheaper and it works, but I'd probably still tell people to go and buy the VFC KS1.

Problems he hit
Trigger box/hammer fails to reset, rifle won't fire until manually reset; loose spring (recurring QC issue) · 10:05
Tokyo Marui MWS mag: BBs chopped/shaved in half by nozzle, repeated feed jams · 15:01
Full jam, BB rammed into another; nozzle left with white residue and deformation/indent · 16:13
CGS mag: BB jammed in feed path, not feeding 100% · 23:01
Angry Gun mag: bolt slam on loading, bolt didn't fully close properly · 25:36
Out of the box
400FPS
0.2BB weight (g)
10FPS spread
30Mag capacity
Stock Wellpro mag: ~390-410 FPS on 0.2g, 14 rps, bolt lock fine. 1.28 J quoted at 370 FPS was with CGS mag. Mag prices quoted: TM $65, CGS $70, Guns Modify $79-80, Angry Gun $65-75; Wellpro mag ~$50 was Ed's guess. Swiss Arms 150 PSI gas used.
Caveats
- Ed gave no numeric scores; all 1-10 scores are inferred from his qualitative comments
- FPS figures vary by magazine; ootb FPS reflects the stock Wellpro magazine only
- 1.28 J was quoted with the CGS mag at 370 FPS, not the stock setup
- Wellpro mag ~$50 price was Ed's guess; he explicitly said he didn't know the cost
- Trigger-box hammer reset fault may be a unit-specific QC issue, not inherent to the model
- Some chrono readings were false due to gas interference (e.g. 1260 FPS, 133 rps) and were discarded by Ed
- Mag feeding failures may reflect magazine compatibility rather than the replica itself
