Ed’s verdict
I love this thing — it's like an MP5 but beefier, with a chunky mag and noticeably heavier, more satisfying recoil. I did have a scare when the fire selector went floppy right at the start, though it sorted itself out once I opened it up and I still don't know why. The stock handguard feels more generic plastic than the nicer Gen 2 MP5 one, so I've gone with the VFC flashlight handguard, a claw mount and the Holosun DRS-TH thermal on top. It's super comfortable and just so comfy to shoot, and I'm really, really liking this replica. I'll do a full out-of-the-box performance review covering FPS, consistency and accuracy in a separate video before any internal upgrades.

Problems he hit
Fire selector went floppy/broke right after charging at the start; self-resolved after opening it up, cause unknown · 00:46
VFC claw mount screws prone to stripping; Ed stripped/snapped them before and one side felt like it was starting to strip again · 12:34
Magazine stop-on-empty: if the mag lever isn't flicked over/centered when filling, the replica won't fire · 33:43
Out of the box
No stock chrono data given. Ed says it 'seems to be performing very well' and that a separate stock review video will cover FPS, consistency and accuracy before any internal upgrade. Recoil described as heavier and more satisfying than his VFC MP5.
Caveats
- This is an external build video, not a review; Ed states the stock FPS/consistency/accuracy review will be a separate video
- No chrono, weight, mag capacity or HK53 price given in this video
- The $1,600 price quoted is for the Holosun DRS-TH optic, not the replica
- Ergonomics and recoil comments relate to the replica with accessories fitted, not strictly stock
- Fire selector failure self-resolved and its cause is unknown
- Scores are inferred from Ed's qualitative statements; he gave no numeric ratings
